Ron Timmermans honored at EAA AirVenture 2021
Ron Timmermans, the 2021 FAA General Aviation Award [GAA] CFI of the Year, receives his award from Steve Dickson, Administrator of the FAA.
The ceremony was held on Thursday, July 29 during the “Meet the Administrator” Forum at the annual Experimental Aircraft Association [EAA] AirVenture in Oshkosh, WI.
Ron received his Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from Iowa State University in 1972. He enjoyed a 40+ year professional career as an architect and project manager before devoting himself to aviation full-time.
Since 1998, Ron has been an independent flight instructor, logging more than 4,000 of dual instruction given. Nearly 1,300 of those hours were logged in the past five years.
Ron holds ATP-AMEL; Commercial-ASEL; CFI-IA; MEI-IA; AGI-Instrument and Remote Pilot certificates. He is a NAFI Master CFI and Master Ground Instructor; a Gold Seal instructor; and an American Bonanza Society [ABS] Master Aviator.
A big supporter of the FAASTeam WINGS program, Ron served on the WINGS Industry Advisory Committee [WIAC] and he helped found the WINGS Industry Network in 2020. In addition, Ron serves on the FAA’s WINGS Usability Working Group.
